Opening arguments in the Derek Chauvin trial are set to begin in one week. On Friday, Judge Peter Cahill ruled that the trial would not be moved or delayed after the defense said it would be affected by publicity from the $27 million settlement awarded to George Floyd’s family from Minneapolis. With 12 jurors and one alternate seated, Judge Cahill now wants 15 jurors for the start. Fourteen will hear the case and the 15th juror will be in place if someone drops out before the trial start date. BNC Legal Correspondent Candace Kelley joined Start Your Day with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss important moves from the defense and the prosecution. Kelley said Cahill has discretion on which jurors will be the 12 sitting on the trial and which will be the three alternates.
