On the third day of the trial for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, new video evidence from inside the Cup Foods store and body camera footage was shown for the first time. Chauvin’s voice was also heard for the first time in some of the evidence. BNC Legal Expert Candace Kelley joined Start Your Day with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to talk about the third day in the trial. Kelley said it gives insight to Chauvin’s intent and state of mind during the incident. “This is the first time we get into this mindset. What was he thinking,” she said. Kelley also added that the prosecution is getting ahead of the defense’s plan to paint Floyd as a man on drugs.
