Detroit City Council Approves Adding Reparations to the Ballot for Its Residents

There is a possibility that reparations might be on the ballot for residents of Detroit, Michigan this November.

The city council unanimously voted in support of adding to the ballot the creation of a reparations committee to explore recommendations for providing reparations for its Black residents. They will lean on the committee for recommendations for housing and economic development programs to look at the city’s history of prejudice against the Black community.

Duke University professor and author of “From Here to Equality: Reparations for Black Americans in the 21st Century,” William Darity, joins Charles Blow on β€œPrime” to talk about reparations.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
