'Dixie Fireโ€™ in California Set to Be the Largest Wildfire Burning Over 100,000 Acres of Land

The western wildfire being called the โ€œDixie Fireโ€ has nearly doubled in size and spread throughout Plumas County in Northern California in the past two days. San Francisco BNC correspondent Anser Hassan joined live on the scene of โ€œThe World Tonightโ€ with host Nayyera Haq, to give updates on the progress of the fight against the fire.

According to Hassan, the fire has scorched over 100,000 acres and with dry conditions, officials are concerned about how far it has spread. Fire officials tell BNC that while the fire is well on its way to being the largest wildfire this year, they are confident that they can contain it. Fire Captain Antonio Negrete states that his only fear going forward is rough terrain, making it difficult to get some resources out into the area. According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the fire was at 17% containment as of Thursday morning.

There is a mandatory evacuation in place for the area and so far, eight structures have been burned and 1,500 other structures are being threatened.
