Fully vaccinated people have been offered a short olive branch. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Monday that they could hang around other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing a mask or social distancing.
BNC Chief Medical Editor Dr. Corey Hebert offered further clarity on the new guidelines. “You’re not fully protected until you are 2 weeks past your second vaccine for Pfizer and Moderna. And two to three weeks past your first and only shot for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.”
Even with the new updates, Dr. Hebert and the CDC both said that people should still avoid crowds and wear masks in public places. This way we can continue on the path to flatten the curve and create herd immunity this year.
