Dr. Eric Fiegl Ding talks J&J COVID-19 after CDC gives green light to resume use

As the United States resumes use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, new numbers show about half of Americans have only received at least one vaccine dose and now efforts turn toward people still on the fence. Dr. Eric Fiegl Ding, an epidemiologist and Senior Fellow of the Federation of American Scientists, joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the vaccine. Ding said the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is “one of the best” vaccines because it is single-dose and it gets better over time. He said the reaction to the rare blood clotting disorder was overblown, but Americans should be aware that this shows the CDC has public safety as a priority. Dr. Ding said missing a second dose does not give you full immunity against the coronavirus.
