Things got heated in a senate hearing when Kentucky Senator Rand Paul questioned Dr. Anthony Fauci on his continued push for wearing masks.
Paul asserts that Fauci is purposefully misleading the public into wearing masks thus denying what is known about immunity. The senator goes on to claim that there is no science behind Fauci’s reasoning and accuses the chief medical advisor of only wearing masks for show.
“There’s virtually zero percent chance you’re going to get it and you’re telling people who have had the vaccine, who have immunity, you’re defying everything we know about immunity by telling people to wear masks who’ve been vaccinated,” Paul said during the hearing.
Fauci swiftly debunks the senator’s jabs stating”Well, let me just state for the record that masks are not theater, masks are protective.”
The CDC does suggest for people to continue the precautions and social distancing standards as officials are not certain of the vaccine effectiveness against new strands of the virus.
