Federal Reserve Nominee Lisa Cook Faces Racist Smear Campaign

If confirmed, Lisa Cook, a renowned economist and professor of economics and international relations at Michigan State University, would be the first Black woman to ever serve on the Federal Reserve’s seven-member Board of Governors.

According to reports, she faces a racist smear campaign from Republicans and conservatives who demand Biden pick someone else.

An economist at the conservative Hoover Institution said Cook should only be considered β€œif the job is to bring the Administration and progressive supporters’ racial policies to the Fed.”

Darrick Hamilton, professor of Economics and Urban Policy at The New School, joins Charles Blow on β€œPrime” to discuss.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
