President Joe Biden is increasing the minimum wage for federal contract workers to $15 an hour. This initiative will take effect by March 2022 and nearly 400,000 people will see additional income. About half of those workers are estimated to be Black or Hispanic. A new Gallup poll found that 57% of Americans have confidence that the President will do the right thing for the economy. Brandon Comer, Comer Capital Group Managing Partner, joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the Biden Administration’s plan for the economy. He said the COVID-19 relief package was a tremendous help to businesses impacted by the pandemic. Comer said he thinks the $15 minimum wage could get passed if the country thinks about what equity means. He said the country benefits from equitable actins of increasing wages, but the narrative has been diluted to make it seem like it is a charitable contribution.
