First Step Act Highlights Race Disparities in Criminal Justice System


Signed into law in 2018, the First Step Act has already granted thousands an early release from federal prisons.

However, civil liberties advocates are concerned that Black and Brown incarcerated people are disproportionately denied the same opportunity.
