George Floyd's brother 'feeling optimistic about Derek Chauvin trial

Philonise Floyd, the brother of George Floyd, spoke about the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. “I’m feeling optimistic about this trial. I feel we’re going to get a conviction. It’s justice for all. The world is behind this and Minneapolis needs to get this right,” he said. Citing violence against Black Americans caught on camera, he said he “has faith” that his family will get justice for the death of his brother. Opening arguments are set to begin on Monday, March 29. Chauvin faces the charges of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder. During the jury selection process, the city of Minneapolis reached a $27 million settlement with Floyd’s family. The settlement was the largest of its kind in history.
