Georgia Board of Education says U.S. Isnโ€™t a Racist Country

Charles Blow sits down with Jason Esteves, chair of Atlanta Board of Education, and Tracey Nance Pendley, 2020-2021 Georgia Teacher of the Year, to talk about the Georgia Board of Education passing a resolution that states the U.S. isnโ€™t a racist country, and that Georgia isnโ€™t a racist state.

โ€œIt sends a chilling message to educators, our students and to the rest of the nation that our schools should not be places where race is discussed,โ€ Esteves says. โ€œWhat the state Board of Education did today was take a huge step backward in the commitments many of us made last year to fight systemic racism in the wake of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.โ€
