“It sends a chilling message to educators, our students and to the rest of the nation that our schools should not be places where race is discussed,” Esteves says. “What the state Board of Education did today was take a huge step backward in the commitments many of us made last year to fight systemic racism in the wake of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.”
