A single mother from New Jersey is helping people face financial hardships, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Simone Gordon turned her Instagram account into a fundraising machine with the help of some volunteers, and now she’s known as the “Black Fairy Godmother.”
She joins “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss her philanthropic endeavors. Gordon found herself in need and ever since getting help, she’s been paying it forward. She says after women in a Facebook group helped her get access to special medical treatment for her son, she returned a good deed by raising $1,000 in 30 minutes for a mother on Facebook facing eviction. This has resulted in people calling her the “Black Fairy Godmother.”
