Hurricane Ida Leaves Two People Dead After Reaching Landfall in Louisiana

Welcome to β€œPrime” hosted by Charles Blow.

New Orleans has been hit by Hurricane Ida, 16 years after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city. Ida made landfall in Louisiana last night as a Category 4 hurricane, with sustained winds of about 150 miles per hour as it tore apart roofs, downed power lines and caused massive flooding.

Two deaths have been confirmed so far. This is happening at a time when Louisiana and other states in the South are already grappling with their worst COVID-19 wave since the pandemic began. Many hospitals have had to evacuate patients as they too were threatened with storm damage.

Former New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial joins Blow on β€œPrime” to discuss Hurricane Ida.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
