Hurricane Ida’s Impact Could Worsen Outbreaks in Louisiana and Mississippi

Several Americans could be having a change of heart when it comes to their hesitancy about getting vaccinated.

According to a Axios-Ipsos poll, the number of Americans who now say they are “not very likely” or “not likely at all” to get vaccinated is 20%.

Louisiana and Mississippi, which just got hit by Hurricane Ida, have some of the lowest vaccination rates in the country, according to the latest data from the CDC. Hospitals that are packed with COVID-19 patients may now have to take in Hurricane Ida victims, as well as their own storm damage.

Dr. Anita Henderson, a pediatrician in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, joins Charles Blow on “Prime” to discuss her concerns about the hurricane during the pandemic.

All this and more on “Making the Case.”
