In Colorado, two police officers are hit with several felonies after being caught on video choking and pistol-whipping a Black man.
Aurora Police officer John Haubert is facing attempted first-degree assault, second-degree assault, oppression, felony menacing, and first-degree official misconduct for his role in the brutal arrest of Kyle Vinson. His partner Officer Francine Martinez is charged with failing to intervene and report the use of force by a peace officer.
Haubert and Martinez were responding to a trespassing complaint when they saw three men sitting on a curb. Officers identified each person had felony warrants. Two of them ran away before Vinson was violently taken into custody.
Bodycam footage shows Haubert choking Vinson for nearly 40 seconds as blood streams down his face.
Vinson was taken to a hospital for his injuries. The cut on his head required stitches.
Haubert and Martinez have been released on bail.
If you remember, Aurora is the same city 23-year-old Elijah McClain was killed after being put in a chokehold by police in 2019.
