A former police officer’s guilty plea of killing a Black man sends a grieving mother into a rage.
In July 2018, Andrew Delke shot Daniel Hambrick in the back three times as he ran away.
At his hearing, Delke pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter. He got the opportunity to express his condolences to the family.
Following his statement, Vickie Hambrick, Daniel Hambrick’s mother, strongly reacted to his apology.
Hambrick also says she was not informed of the pact Delke made with prosecutors to plead guilty in exchange for a three-year sentence.
Delke’s plea means he will not have to go on trial for first-degree murder this month.
