The House select committee formed to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol held its first hearing today.
For nearly three-and-a-half hours, four Capitol police officers recounted the repeated violent attacks by the pro-Trump mob.
In a powerful testimony about confronting the rioters, a 13-year veteran of the Capitol police force, Officer Harry Dunn, recalled the racist slurs he endured.
The other officers, including Daniel Hodge, who got trapped between rioters and a door, gave chilling, first-hand accounts of being knocked unconscious, beaten, and fearing death at the hands of a mob that outnumbered them.
No other hearings are scheduled, but more could happen before the August recess.
