If We Don't Have It We're Not Slowing Anybody Down: George Floyd's Uncle Speaks Out On Police Reform

The House of Representatives passed the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act Wednesday night in a 220-212 vote. It includes a number of police reform measures in reaction to a national uprising against racial injustice and police brutality that began with the murder of George Floyd.

The policing reform bill will bolster police accountability and prevent problem officers from moving from one department to another by creating a national registry to track those with questionable records.

It would also end certain police practices that have been under scrutiny after the deaths of Black Americans in the last year.

Selwyn Jones, George Floyd’s uncle and the family spokesperson and Melvin Casey Lars who worked with the family to push the legislation forward.spoke with Roland Martin about the push to get police reform legislation passed and signed into law.
