On today’s “In the Black,” BNC spoke to labor economist for Zip Recruiter Julia Pollak, who gives résumé advice to people re-entering the workforce, particularly if they were laid off during the height of the pandemic.
Pollak says that most resumes are initially read by a computer, so they needs to be optimized so that they’re easily readable.
“Bias is so wrapped up in every stage of the hiring process,” Pollak says. She gives tips on working around those biases, like noting that someone’s a native English speaker or leaving off their full address. All this and more on “In the Black.”
