On Wednesday, Roland Martin and Terrance Woodbury, Founding Partner, HIT Strategies took government officials to task for their ineffective messaging in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
According to the latest HIT survey of the Black people surveyed, only 48% say they WILL get vaccinated while the 52% say they WILL NOT.
A large part of the hesitancy to get vaccinated against the deadly virus is a result of poor messaging from officials, the lack of investment being made in getting trusted voices out in the community to interact with African Americans and a groundswell of misinformation that has flooded social media.
Roland Martin, Woodbury and others have offered solutions to officials at varying levels of government which seem to have fallen on deaf ears. As the Delta COVID variant spreads like a wildfire, it is imperative that factual information is disseminated in communities of color about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.
