Judge Creates Mentorship Program for Black Men in Criminal System


Judge David Hamilton made history in 2019, becoming the first African American in three decades to be elected a municipal court judge in Akron, Ohio.

He joins Yodit Tewolde on β€œMaking the Case” on making a difference in his community through his COMPASS outreach program that provides skills and mentors to young Black men in the criminal legal system.

Akron Municipal Court probation officer Mychal Brown, who works with the program, also joins the show.
