Justice Department Suing Georgia Over Voter Suppression Legislation

The Justice Department announced it is suing the state of Georgia over its voter suppression law.
During the news conference, Attorney General Merrick Garland made it clear the federal government would not stand by while the civil rights of Americans are violated. Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who announced last week more than 100,000 names would be purged from the state’s voter rolls, has committed to making this and other voter suppression tactics a reality. Governor Brian Kemp released a statement saying, “Joe Biden, Stacey Abrams and their allies tried to force an unconstitutional elections power grab through Congress and failed.” Georgia State Representative Bee Nguyen and Cliff Albright, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, join Nayyera Haq to discuss the topic.
