'Kobe was all about basketball': Remembering the Legacy of the NBA Legend


Kobe Bryant was a 17-year-old high school recruit out of the suburbs of Philadelphia when he was drafted into the NBA. He spent 20 years wearing purple and gold for the Los Angeles Lakers. Fans loved him, and Brad Turner covered him throughout that time. Turner, a writer for the Los Angeles Times, joins “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss Kobe’s legacy. Turner says he will remember that Bryant was “someone that evolved” throughout his career. Citing Bryant’s childhood growing up in history, Turner says the NBA legend learned about basketball by watching tapes and doing research on the sport. “Kobe was all about basketball, basketball, basketball,” Turner says.
