Kristen Clarke is President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. If confirmed, she would be the first Black woman to do so since the division was created in 1957, but making history rarely comes easy. As skeptics gear up for her Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday, Clarke will need to prove herself. BNC Washington D.C.
