Looking Ahead to Federal Trial of Ahmaud Arbery’s Murderers

The three white men convicted of killing Ahmaud Arbery were sentenced to life in prison today.

Only one of the trio, William “Roddie” Bryan, will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years, which is a long ways away for the 52-year-old. The judge sentenced Travis and Greg McMichael each with life, plus an additional 20 years for assault and false imprisonment charges.

They now face federal hate crime charges early next month for attempted kidnapping and interfering with Arbery’s right to use a public street because of his race.

CK Hoffler, attorney and chairwoman of the Rainbow Push Coalition, joins Charles Blow on “Prime” to discuss.
