Louisiana Levees Can't Handle Category 4 Storm

BNC meteorologist Brittany Lockley continues to provide updates on Hurricane Ida, which is expected to make landfall in Louisiana on Sunday, exactly 16 years after Hurricane Katrina.

Katrina was a Category 3 storm, with water coming in because of failed levees. The levees have since been improved, but Lockley says it’s still not enough to handle a Category 4 storm. Lockley says to make sure you’re evacuating if you’re along the coastline or in New Orleans, and also to make sure you have non-perishable food and water, medicines, a first aid kit and extra cash on hand.
