Low Income Communities See Increased Health Risks Due to Lack of Trees

Charles Blow chats with Mustafa Ali, the vice president of Environmental Justice, Climate and Community Revitalization at the National Wildlife Federation, about environmental racism. People in low-income neighborhoods suffer more health risks because of a lack of trees.

According to American Forests, communities that predominately have people of color have 33% less tree canopy than wealthier communities, with 65% more tree canopy.

β€œThis is an opportunity not only for us to make sure that we are protecting the health inside our communities, but we’re also building wealth inside of our communities,” Ali says.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
