Orange County, Florida Mayor Jerry Demmings has been known as trailblazer and a model for Black excellence.
He was the first African American to be elected as sheriff of Orange County and was the first African American police chief in Orlando. In total, Demmings has spent 38 years in law enforcement and in that time, he has heard calls for police reform. He is the husband of U.S. Representative Val Demmings, who is running for the Senate.
Demmings joins Laverne McGee on βBNC Liveβ to discuss policing and his wifeβs run for the Senate.
