Minnesota AG Keith Ellison ‘Felt a Little Bad’ for Derek Chauvin, Agrees with Conviction

Charles Blow talks to Kevin Powell, civil and human rights activist, about why Black America tends to operate on forgiveness in the face of systemic oppression.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison told, “60 Minutes” that he “felt a little bad” for Derek Chauvin, adding that he did deserve to be convicted for murdering George Floyd.

“I understand the Christian ethos of forgiving and loving everyone,” Powell says. “I think we need to be very clear there’s a history of killing Black folks without any punishment whatsoever.”

Derek Chauvin is scheduled to be sentenced on June 25.
