More Americans Turned to Drugs During Beginning of the Pandemic


Charles Blow sits down with Dr. Carl Hart, psychology department chair at Columbia University, to talk about Americans turning to drugs during the early months of the pandemic.

According to the CDC, 13% of Americans increased or began using drugs by June 2020. Drug overdoses around the country increased by 18%.

β€œIt would be a mistake to think that the pandemic itself caused drug addiction,” Hart says.
