America’s war on drugs is one of the longest standing and most controversial issues facing our nation, that people tend to habitually use and lose everything they touch.
This week New York City approves safe sites for drug use aiming to curve to overdoses. “D.C. Today” welcomes the chair of Columbia University psychology department and author, Dr. Carl Hart, to weigh in on the safety of drug users in these safe sites.
Dr. Hart instantly corrects the narrative
of drug users losing everything and informs viewers that 80% of drug users don’t actually lose anything. Supervised use facilities give people a place where they can use safely and not spread blood borne diseases like hepatitis C, HIV or AIDS.
All this and more on “D.C. Today.”
