2nd Degree murder…10 years in prison and up to a $20-thousand fine is what former Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, police officer Kimberly Potter is facing.
Potter killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright during Sunday’s traffic stop was arrested today.
Potter said she “mistakenly” pulled her gun instead of her taser.
Police have been dispatched to her home as protestors gather outside her house.
The Wright family attorney, Ben Crump, released this statement about Potter’s arrest.
“While we appreciate that the district attorney is pursuing justice for Daunte, no conviction can give the Wright family their loved one back. This was no accident. This was an intentional, deliberate, and unlawful use of force. Driving while Black continues to result in a death sentence. A 26-year veteran of the force knows the difference between a Taser and a firearm.
