Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pleaded guilty in two separate civil rights violations cases in federal court.
Chauvin’s first guilty plea was in connection to the 2020 murder of George Floyd and served as the first time he publicly accepted his role in Floyd’s death
The indictment cited that Chauvin violated Floyd’s civil rights by “depriving his right to be free from unreasonable seizure, which includes the right to be free from the use of unreasonable force by a police officer.”
