In the Virginia governorβs race, there is a third-party candidate, a Black woman named Princess Blanding, who holds 1% of the support.
Blanding entered politics after the death of her brother, Marcus-David Peters, a school teacher who was shot and killed by Richmond police in 2018 while he was experiencing a mental health crisis. As a candidate representing the Libertarian party, she advocates for banning police unions and defunding the police. Blandingβs campaign also calls for state-funded reparations for Black Virginians.
She joins Charles Blow on βPrimeβ to discuss why she is running for governor of Virginia.
