Professional Sports Leagues Struggling To Deal With COVID-19 Outbreak


Professional sports leagues are scrambling after a surge of coronavirus cases has forced some teams to reevaluate safety protocols and postpone games.

At least 90 NFL players have tested positive for COVID-19 this week so far, including the Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

For the first time this NBA season, an outbreak among 10 players who play for the Chicago Bulls forced the league to postpone games.

According to ESPN, 36 out of the league’s 51 positive COVID-19 cases in 2021 emerged in the past two weeks.

Dr. Kevin Sneed, senior associate vice president at the University of South Florida Health and dean at USF’s Taneja College of Pharmacy, joins guest host Laverne McGee to discuss.
