Marc Lamont Hill sits down with three University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill professors of color, Dr. Gloria Thomas, Dr. Kia Caldwell and Dr. Sharon Holland. They talk about Nikole Hannah-Jones announcing she will not join UNC without tenure, and the exodus of professors and staff because of its decision not to offer Hannah-Jones tenure.
Thomas said she made the decision to leave the school before the controversy but that she is “embarrassed” to be part of UNC.
“It doesn’t feel good to be a part of this institution,” Thomas says.
