Republicans propose new $568 billion infrastructure plan

If you are waiting on roads and bridges in your area to be fixed, Republicans say they have a plan to make it happen. Lawmakers announced their most significant infrastructure investment Thursday and it comes with a lower price tag than the plan proposed by President Joe Biden. Although less expensive, the plan could cost the country, particularly communities of color, in other ways. BNC Correspondent Bofta Yimam joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the new proposal. The Republican infrastructure plan would cost $568 billion over a five-year period, while Biden’s plan cost $2 trillion. Republicans say the funding will allocate nearly $300 billion to roads and bridges with improvements to public transit, drinking water and safety. The plan would be financed possibly through higher fees for some drivers or through the redirection of federal funds.
