SC Rep. Jermaine Johnson Sr. on Building Congress for Next Generation

By 2040, almost half of Americans at that point will have been born after 9/11.

The young adults of the future will remember the Parkland and Las Vegas shootings as things that happened in their childhood.

However, those tasked with creating policies that will shape the future are far on the other end of the spectrum. The average age of a member of Congress is 60 years old, and the average age of a U.S. Senator is 63. President Joe Biden at age 78, is the oldest president to assume office in the nation’s history and six sitting Senators are over the age of 80.

South Carolina State Representative Jermaine Johnson Sr. joins Nayyera Haq on β€œPrime” to discuss how Congress can build the future everyone else needs.

All this and more on β€œPrime.”
