A Mississippi high school is facing backlash for changing its class ranking system after two Black students, Ikeria Washington and Layla Temple were named valedictorian and salutatorian. After the two were named as the top two, the West Point Consolidated School District then said it recognizes students with both the highest Quality Point Average and Grade Point Average. The school will now have two valedictorians and two salutatorians. “Start Your Day” hosts Sharon Reed and Mike Hill expressed their frustration with the school’s decision.
