Search Continues on Fifth Day for Survivors in Surfside Building Collapse

At least nine people are dead and more than 150 people are still unaccounted for since the Thursday morning condo collapse in Surfside, Florida.

Search and rescue operations are still underway in an effort to find survivors buried in the rubble. BNC correspondent Astrid Martinez has been following the story very closely. She joins “Start Your Day” live from Surfside as the rescue efforts continue. Crews were having trouble looking for any possible survivors, as search efforts were hampered by weather and fires within the rubble. They have also been able to dig a trench within the rubble that is 125 feet long and 40 feet deep. So far, it has provided them one of the best chances of reaching any possible survivors.
