LeBron James stirred controversy last week when he tweeted to Nicholas Reardon, the Columbus, Ohio police officer who fatally shot Ma’Khia Bryant. The NBA star later deleted the tweet, which read “YOU’RE NEXT #ACCOUNTABILITY”. In response, to the tweet, Dean Joseph, a Black Los Angeles police officer condemned James for using his platform to have the Reardon targeted in an open letter. Joseph invited LeBron to speak about the danger police face on the line of duty.
‘Start Your Day’ host Sharon Reed and BNC legal expert Candace Kelley shared their opinions situation.
“LeBron James’ tweet is continuing seemingly to be a problem for him,” Kelley said. “Whether you’re a celebrity or not, your chances of liabling someone – putting someone under a false light – keep tweeting like that.”
Reed understood the point of opening communication but wants to know what will be done to stop the police from killing Black individuals.
