Speed painting, where an artist has a limited time to finish a piece, is a fascinating technique to watch. Speed painter Cody Sabol joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to talk about his experience and his work. When asked how he does it, Sabol said he refines how he looks at different aspects of paintings and he takes a “systematic approach.” The Pittsburgh-native has created many art pieces for professional athletes and he said some of his favorites have been centered around Pittsburgh sports teams. The self-described “starving artist” said some of his clients commission his pieces no matter the price. Sabol, who also uses his technique to paint historical figures, surprised Sharon and Mike with a speed painting of one of the most revered civil rights icons in history.
