Start Your Day hosts discuss Jay Leno's apology to Asian community

After calls to end racism, discrimination and hate against members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, many are stepping forward to apologize for their past behavior. Comedian and talk show host Jay Leno has apologized for comments and jokes he has made in the past. Watchdog groups wanted to meet with Leno in the past, but he refused. “I was shocked and saddened by what has been happening to my fellow citizens in the Asian community,” Leno said. “I would be deeply hurt and ashamed if somehow my words did anything to incite this violence.” Start Your Day hosts Sharon Reed and Mike Hill spoke about the apology. Reed said white comedians rarely make disparaging jokes about their community. “Jay Leno targeted a marginalized community with some vile stereotypical things.”
