Start Your Day hosts question Rep. Byron Donalds on vaccine passports, voter suppression

Vaccine passports would allow people to prove they’ve received the COVID-19 vaccine and carry that proof on their mobile device. New York is the first state to launch the initiative, but Florida’s governor Ron DeSantis said he would ban it. Congressman Byron Donalds of Florida joined “Start Your Day” with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to talk about the initiative and the governor’s stance. Donalds said he agrees with DeSantis’ decision.

“I do agree with the governor. It’s just not needed,” he said. When asked if businesses should require proof of the vaccine, he said it’s their right, but the company should prepare for the fallout. When challenged on Florida’s rising case numbers, no mask mandate and spring break tourism, he said he isn’t worried.

Hill and Reed also pressed Donalds on voter suppression bills and his stance on false claims of election fraud.
