The second week of the trial of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin resumed Monday. “Start Your Day” hosts Sharon Reed and Mike Hill discussed their feelings about the trial. Citing the video of George Floyd’s death, shown multiple times in court, Reed expressed her frustration with the number of times it is shown. “This is Mr. Floyd’s final moments here with us on Earth. This is Mr. Floyd being tortured, crying in agony, begging a white man to allow him to breathe,” she said. “It’s a crime. Because you’re not seeing Mr. Floyd or his loved ones as human beings and that’s how we got here in the first place.” The hosts agree that playing the video that many times may reduce the shock value jurors feel.
