Start Your Day hosts, Tanya Hart react to 2021 Oscars nominations


The nominations for the 93rd Oscars were announced on Monday and the ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on April 25, 2021. Academy members from 17 branches voted to determine the nominees in their respective categories, with all voting members selecting Best Picture nominees. “Judas and the Black Messiah” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” received several nominations. The nominations also boosted Viola Davis to a record-breaking achievement of receiving the most number of overall acting nominations from a Black actress. She is also the only Black woman with two Best Actress nominations. “Minari” actor Steven Yuen became the first Asian-American to be nominated for Best Actor. Tanya Hart, a veteran entertainment journalist for American Urban Radio Networks, joined Start Your Day with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to talk about the nominations and offer reactions.
