An English teacher turned activist chained herself at a security fence outside the Hennepin County courthouse to call attention to police brutality and racism
Kaia Hurt said that law enforcement use heavy-handed tactics and violence in communities of color and that George Floyd’s death was her breaking point.
“I am chained here because people are not listening,” Hurt told BNC as she sat chained to the fence in above freezing temperatures in Minneapolis.
The locks that she tied herself to the fence have the names of men and women who lost their lives to the police.
