Texas Abortion News, Philadelphia Ends Low-Level Traffic Stops

β€œMaking the Case” host Yodit Tewolde brings legal headlines to the forefront, sharing news that Philadelphia officials hope will end racially biased policing.

The Department of Justice plans to ask the Supreme Court to block Texas’ restrictive abortion ban. The law prohibits abortions after six weeks and allows private citizens to sue anyone who aids a woman in receiving one.

Philadelphia is the first city in the country to say its police officers will no longer be pulling drivers over for certain low-level traffic offenses. Data shows that Philadelphia police pull over 72% of Black drivers compared to 15% of white drivers. BNC correspondent Astrid Martinez joins Tewolde with all the latest details on the new law.
