Texas’ LAMIK Beauty Cosmetics is First to Launch in Ulta

LAMIK Beauty cosmetic line owner Kim Roxie joins BNC’s Sharon Reed to highlight her journey to becoming the first African American cosmetics owner in Texas to launch on Ulta.

Roxie shares with Reed that the inspiration behind her vegan makeup line comes from women of color spending 80% more on cosmetics and Black women spending nine times more on beauty, but only getting about 5% of shelf space. LAMIK is an acronym that stands for Love And Makeup and Kindness, because beauty is revealed and not applied. For young girls and women who may feel like they don’t have what it takes, “I know what it feels like, to feel like you would not become,” Roxie says. “I would just have to tell her that she can, and she will. She will dig deep into her power, and whatever that passion, whatever that purpose that rises up, will rise up inside of her and take its place.”
